Planning Study for the development of the Port System in Eastern Greece

The study aims at the proposal formulation for the development of the port infrastructure and specialization of activities and provided services of the Eastern Greece ports (Alexandroupoli, Kavala, Volos, Rafina, Lavrion and Eleusina, combined with the main ports of the country; Piraeus and Thessaloniki), in order to achieved the rational development and operation of the specific port system. The study focuses on the identification of the under study port system competitive advantage and on the hierarchy of works and measures for the achievement of this objective.
The phases of the study are the following:
• Current status record and analysis
• Basic future development trends that will influence maritime transport – qualitative development
• Forecasts – proposals for the target year 2030
• Port development schedule.
