The overall aim of this Concerted Action is to facilitate the development of a common methodology for the investigation of maritime accidents and the reporting of hazardous incidents.
This aim will be enabled by the development of the following :
• Understanding of present working practices and procedures for accident investigation.
• Assessment of current training programmes for accident investigation.
• Assessment and measurement of the current ”competencies” of investigation personnel.
• Identification of the best practice employed in current methodologies for accident investigation.
• Identification of best practice from the CHIRP concept.
• Assessment of accident data requirement.
• Collation of maritime traffic population statistics.
• Consensus on a common approach to develop accident methodology.
• Detailed specification of proposed common methodology.
• Acquisition of data and collation of an appropriate database.
• Development of a risk analysis for European maritime coastal traffic
