Description:

The project is being implemented in the context of the Project «LOSAMEDCHEM» (INTERREG MED/ «Mediterranean Area») in which TCCI participates as a partner. The subject of the project is the provision of support to TCCI in carrying out its technical tasks and fulfilling its obligations to the project.

Theme of the project is the improvement of the competitiveness of the Mediterranean regions, in order to ensure economic growth and employment for the local populations, by removing inefficiencies affecting the Mediterranean logistic hubs and traffic arteries. In the context of the project a detailed analysis of the current situation and consequent proposals for improvements are performed.

The main objectives of the project are: 1. promote cooperation among chemical districts and between them and the main harbours; 2. improve integration between harbours/hinterlands; 3. sustain intermodality;
4. reinforce the railways/waterways transportation for chemical products; 5. promote a transfer of know-how and safety technologies; 6. harmonize regulations and policies.

The general objectives of the project are: 1. Reinforcement of the cohesion of the European Chemical Regions situated on the North Mediterranean Coast, through discussions and joint actions concerning transport and in particular of the transport of chemical products, 2. Elimination of particularities of the above mentioned areas through joint logistics solutions, 3. Supporting intermodality and in general of transport solutions besides road transport, 4. Promotion of the harmonization of relevant regulations of the European Chemical Regions and their transnational coordination.

The specific objectives of the project are: 1. Promotion of transnational know-how and technologies, 2. to reinforce the railway/waterway transportation for chemical goods at expense of road transportation, 3. to sustain the growth of intermodality, privileging the “Hub & Spoke“ strategy in the
implementation/revamping of the intermodal logistic chain, 4. to improve integration between harbors and their hinterland, and anticipate the development of the transport and logistics infrastructures needed
for this purpose and reduction of bottlenecks, 5. revision of the current regulations applicable in different areas, concerning the transport of chemical products, aiming at adopting, to the extent possible, of common regulations.
