The improvement of the road safety conditions in the black spots of the road network is one of the basic targets of the Road Safety Programme of YPEHODE, which requires the implementation of a series of actions on the national network black spots in order to be achieved. The road section of the PATHE axis, from Ag. Konstantinos (167+000) to Rahes (240+000) known as Malliakos “Petal” constitutes one of the most dangerous sections as recorded by various accident analysis on the national road network. The present study aims at the exact spotting of the section’s black spots and the arsis of their venturesomeness through several proposals for the implementation of the necessary interventions.
The study is divided to the following two phases:
Phase A’: Identification of the black spots in Malliakos
– Accidents’ data collection
– Data statistical analysis and identification of black spots
– Identification of the critical infrastructure and operational parameters of the road section that influence road safety
– Evaluation of the alternative improvement solutions and selection of the optimum solution for each spot.
Phase B’: Formulation of certain proposals for the arsis of venturesomeness per spot.
