The study aimed at the urban and traffic planning of the two proposed underground parking stations, namely:
a) on Giannitson & Mantion Str., in the Municipality of Menemeni and
b) on Monastiriou Str. Opposite the OSE railway station in the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
The study was carried out in one phase, with main objectives the following:
• The general urban planning of the stations influence area (population, existing and foreseen land uses)
• The record of the on road and off road parking offer
• Survey for parking demand in the stations’ influence area
• Traffic volumes measurements in adjacent intersections
• The determination of the entrance/exit ways to/from the stations and the estimation of the loads increase due to their operation
• The estimation of the traffic volumes increase influence on the traffic capacity and service level of the critical intersections in the stations influence area.
