The study was assigned in 1995 by the owners of the BIOTA building. The study consisted of the following parts:
– Analysis of the existing situation.
– Estimation of the future situation.
– Formulation of proposals.
The basic objective of the study was the estimation of the following: – Usefulness of changing the use of the building from the existed one (tobacco industry) to a shopping center.
– Impacts to the traffic and the land use of the area.
– Measures/schemes which are required for the reduction of the problems that would occur.
The final proposals made aimed to ensure that the service level of the road network would remain high.
Role of TREDIT:
– Traffic volumes measurements in three major intersections of the area. (The ones which would be mostly »affected»).
– Analysis of these results and estimations of the increase in the traffic volumes which would occur because of the changes in the land use.
– Examination of the existing road network capacity. Whether these roads can sufficiently cope up with the generated traffic.
– Design of an intersection
