The main objective of the study is the application of the necessary traffic settlements for the approach and internal access in five airports, so that certain schemes for the short, medium and long-term application and optimization of the access and traffic conditions in these airports will result. The airports involved in the study are those of Araxos, Corfu, Mitilini, Samos and Chios. The planning of the traffic infrastructure of the above-mentioned 5 airports was carried out based on the geometrical and operational characteristics of the existing roads and traffic nodes in the road network, the vehicle and pedestrians service, the flow axes and passengers waiting areas in the terminals surroundings, the planning and available airports’ areas, as well as the floor-terminal system capacity of system, in each phase of the development. The study results include specific proposals for the traffic and parking arrangements in the airports surroundings and their accesses to the main road network, aiming at the resolution of the imminent problems – needs (short-term proposals), as well as the medium- and long-term meet of the needs proportionally to the forecasted passenger movement development in each airport (medium- and long-term proposals).
Role of TREDIT:
– Collection – analysis of historical passenger movement data
– Description of the existing operation with on site visits – particularities / problems record
– Evaluation of the requirements in parking areas and necessary infrastructures for peak and off-peak periods on the basis of the future passenger movement
– Configuration of short, medium and long term traffic management proposals in five airports
