The project aims at:
1. The extension of the traffic analyses and forecasts regarding the passenger and freight movements in the whole of the unprofitable network of the Aegean Sea which is in the responsibility of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine and Ministry of Aegean in relation to the corresponding ones that were completed in the context of the study entitled: «Feasibility Study for the Evaluation of the Alternative Scenarios for the structure of the Liner Shipping of small islands in Aegean Sea (unprofitable network)».
2. The estimation of the requirements in fleet and port equipment for the service of these lines.
3. The further analysis and documentation of the desired vessel characteristics that would be “acceptable” for the service of these lines.
4. The draw up of the specifications which are necessary for the contest declaration in order to select the contractor, who will acquire the vessels and will use them for the transport service of the unprofitable network alone.
5. The provision of scientific and administrative support to the Ministry of Aegean for the relative actions that have to be taken toward the responsible EU services, for the clearing of notification (if it will be needed) whether for the relevant Greek decisions and actions.
6. The cooperation with all the co-responsible authorities and groups that will be involved in the whole process through the adjudication of the contest for the selection of the contractor.
The project is divided in two (2) Phases and nine (9) Work Packages (WP), as follows:
Phase Α: Specifications formulation tasks
Phase Β: Support to the Ministry of Aegean and the co-responsible authorities for the contest declaration and the relations with the EU services.
Role of TREDIT:
– Configuration of the desired operational service characteristics in the small islands of the Aegean Sea (unprofitable network)
– Development, documentation, presentation of the relevant to the EU services issues aiming at the provision of the relevant approvals.
