The study was assigned to the Transeuropean Consulting Unit of Thessaloniki by the Egratia Odos SA, in order to carry-out a series of studies on hydraulic/technical/geological works, traffic forecast, feasibility and pre-planning for the Profitis Airport Axis of the Egnatia Motorway. The above studies for the Verical Axis are carried out in parallel with the required topographical and road construction studies, which are performed within the context of other contracts, aiming to jointly face project requirements.
The Vertical Axis Profitis-Airport will constitute the most important vertical connection of Egnatia motorway with Macedonia Airport of Thessaloniki. It is foreseen to perform an important role to the city development as well as to the improvement of access to the airport and the city centre for the wider area of Central Macedonia.
In the context of the above, the study aims to a detail examination of all the subsequent technical issues concerning alternative proposal for the axis lining, in order to identify the optimum solution for its implementation (construction).
