The project aims at the upgrading of the distribution activity, using advanced telematics systems. The driver can undertake a series of transactions, such as new / additional orders, reporting on stock at the customer place, as well as feedback provision concerning deliveries. Furthermore, the system provides timely and accurate monitoring of sales and returns. All the information is customer oriented and transmitted to the base system, via a GSM network. The dynamic link between DELTA and the sales points improves the effectiveness of the distribution networks and supports the total production process.
The project, by adopting e-commerce related technologies such as E-catalogs, WWW and E-forms, has been a strategic choice for DELTA and its partners. The focus of the end solution has been on the business practices, therefore the parties involved appreciated the need for reengineering of their processes (BPR) towards the more effective introduction of E-commerce in their I.T. environment.
