The Greek pilot is focused in the integration of existing telematics applications that are in operation in Thessaloniki, in the field of Transport, Health Care and information services.
The objective of the pilot is to develop and to implement a “city” smart card which will a) keep user’s personal data (identification, medical history, etc
b) provide him the right to access to information (by Public services,
Private sector, and c) provide the ability for booking and prepaying for several services.
The DISTINCT project brings together many of the key developments in the telematics application programme through the enhancement and integration of the main objective of the project is to :
• Improve the access to the information for citizens and tourists
• Provide high quality reducation and research facilities
• Facilitate outsourcing for business and cities administration
• Improve the quality of travel (by public and private vehicles
• Reduce the need to travel
• Provide new facilities for the elderly and disabled
Two basic platforms are employed in the DISTINCT sites in order to meet the objectives, namely a) smart card based services and b) multi-media information services
The end product of the project will be the multi-purpose DISTINCT “city” smart card, for the citizens of Thessaloniki. It is aiming that the piloting implementation will keep on operating permanently even after the termination of the project.
Role of TREDIT:
