Consulting Services for the project: “Methodologies for the Determination of Road Segments with High Accidents Concentration and Criteria”

Description:

The project was procured at the framework of harmonization with the EU Directive 2008/96/EU of the European Parliament and Council at 19th November 2008 related with the safety management of the road infrastructure. Specifically, the project includes the following activities:

– Investigation, collection and evaluation of worldwide used methodologies for the determination of “spots” with high accidents concentration at various road networks classifications (COMPONENT A).
– Determination of hierarchical criteria for the potential interventions at the “spots” presenting high accidents concentration. The criteria depend on the scale of intervention and the benefit/cost ratio (COMPONENT B).
– Technical support for the development of Terms of Reference for the project “Technical Consultant for the development of technical tools and standardized instructions for road network/ infrastructure data, as well as the recording of the road network information” (COMPONENT C).
– Technical support on the formation of instructions and questionnaires for standardized data collection from Authorities at the framework of the preparation of Intervention Studies for the Road Safety Improvement (COMPONENT D).

Role of TREDIT:

– Analysis of parameters and evaluation of the directions imposed from the EU Directive 2008/96/EU for the road safety management, and specifically for the determination of “spots” with high accidents concentration.
– Examination of the available statistical methods for the determination of “spots’ with high accidents concentrations, and hierarchical assessment of the available methods.
– Recording of the worldwide used methodologies for the quantification of road safety interventions effectiveness.
– Determination of the suitable road safety intervention for Greek environment, depending on the intervention type (project scale) and cost/ benefit ratio.
– Technical support on the development of the Terms of Reference for the project “Technical Consultant for the development of technical tools and standardized instructions for road network/ infrastructure data, as well as the recording of the road network information”
– Technical support on the formation of instruction and questionnaires for standardized data collection from Authorities at the framework of the preparation of Intervention Studies for the Road Safety Improvement
