Customer: Thessaloniki Port Authority (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas/Hellenic Institute of Transport)

Duration: April 2001 – October 2001

TRANSLOGNET project is the outcome of the cooperation of countries around the area of Adriatic-Ionian Corridor. The corridor was designed to improve the productivity of the combined transport activity in the reference area and contribute to the better integration of Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean Sea to the European Transport Network.
TRANSLOGNET will provide the opportunity of using telematics applications within the ports of the study area as well as in other related node points, aiming to offer to the parties involved in a logistics chain a simple, financial viable and open architecture information system.
The principal concept of TRANSLOGNET has been developed around the following points:
• Set-up an open network for information exchanging among the involved parties in transport in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the related processes
• Improve the interaction and cooperation of the countries involved in the project (within and outside the country)
• Achieve an integrated management of information exchanging
• Optimise the benefits in an operational level, developing in parallel the required infrastructure.

Role of TREDIT:
– Co-operation network configuration
– Infrastructure need analysis
– Operational specifications’ configuration
– Development and application design of the passenger information system
– Pilot installation and system operation
